Fort Richardson WWII Living History Day

Fort Richardson State Park will host its’ 4th annual WWII living history event. Living historians will be performing on the parade grounds all day Saturday. Performances will include a battle and a weapons demonstration during the afternoon. The re-enactors will be available to interact with the public all day Saturday. Event is free but park entry fees still apply.

Texas Independence Day Celebration

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Fort Richardson State Park will host their first annual Texas Independence Day Celebration at the fort. Historians and re-enactors from numerous time periods in Texas History will demonstrate their skills throughout the day. There will be a guest lecturer at 2:00pm at the park interpretive center. The event will be held on the historic site from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Event is free but park entry fees still apply.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

Help the little ones of your family find the eggs the Easter Bunny has left for them. The children will be divided into separate age groups so that all will find eggs. Check in at 1:45 at the park interpretive center. 2:00pm start time. The event is free and park entry fees are waived for the duration of the event.

Fort Richardson Living History Event

Fort Richardson State Park & Historic Site will celebrate our 145^thanniversary by turning back time, inviting all manner of living historians and historical re-enactors to take us back to the 1860’s and 1870’s. Friday the 13^th will be dedicated to all school groups to participate and meet the presenters. Saturday the 14^th will be open to all visitors to meet and interact with the live-action, historical displays, and their characters. Activities and displays will likely include: camels, longhorns, gunfights, blacksmithing, Dutch oven cooking, dance lessons, and candle making, while the cavalry, infantry, and artillery show off their skills throughout the day.

Fort Richardson State Park is proud to host the Graham Antique Tractor Club’s Annual Tractor Show. The day will be filled with fun and exciting events and many vendors from the local area. Motorcycle ride and rally

Fort Richardson State Park and Historical Site will be hosting its Annual Motorcycle Rally and ride. Bikes will start rolling into the fort headquarters around 9:00am Sunday morning. The ride itself will start at 10:00 am. The scenic ride will cover about 100 miles of beautiful wildflower covered back roads around the Jack County area. The ride will end back at the Fort at 12:00 noon. All participants will have their entrance fees waived upon arrival, to the park.

Chief Sathieday Days – “Indian Pow Wow”

Kiowas will be coming to Ft Richardson, along with Lakotas, Cherokees and assorted other tribal peoples to host Chief Sathieday Days. This event will be similar to a traditional Pow Wow and is a great opportunity to glimpse a little known culture first hand.

Open to the general public. No limit to participation. Dress for heat and wear comfortable and sturdy shoes. Free event but park entry fees still apply

Guided Nature Hike

Ranger guided nature hike along lost creek trail. Moderate one mile hike exploring flora fauna, and associated ecosystems. Open to the general public. No limit to participation. Dress for heat and wear comfortable and sturdy shoes. Meet at the Group Pavilion to start the hike. Free event but park entry fees still apply.

Weekday Tours

Join a ranger guided tour of The Fort Richardson Historic Site twice daily, Monday through Friday. Tours leave the Interpretive center at 10:00am and 2:00pm. The historical buildings are not climate controlled and the tour requires walking approximately one mile.

Weekend Self Guided Tours

Enjoy a leisurely stroll around The Fort Richardson Historic Site each weekend from 10:00-12:00 & 2:00-4:00pm. The historical buildings are open for self guided tours and park interpretive staff is on site to answer your questions. The historical buildings are not climate controlled and the tour requires walking approximately one mile.

Morning tours are recommended in the summer months as the afternoons are usually very hot and exposure to the elements is continual.
