Come out to Huntsville State Park to help us celebrate! This event is open to anyone and everyone! Our Trail Sampler will consist of three different trails that Huntsville State Park has to offer all combined into one hike totaling about four. Dress comfortably, bring your bug spray, WATER, and don’t forget your camera! Dogs are welcome as well. Meet at Huntsville State Park’s Nature Center located at 565 Park Rd 40W Huntsville TX, 77320. Persons 13 and older will pay a $5.00 entrance fee to enter the Park. Hope to see y’all out at “America’s largest TRAILgating party”!

  • Credible Campers & Campsites:

Adults: Learn Leave no Trace principles, how to pitch your tent and use stoves safely
Junior Rangers:  PEAK Program “Promoting environmental awareness in kids” to leave no trace

  • Building Base Camp: Families come together, gather equipment and build base camp for the weekend.
 

Saturday

  • Coffee and chat with a Park Ranger
  • Caching in on State Park Trails: Trail adventure and exploration through GPS and Geo-caching
  • Fire Building and Outdoor Cooking Tips: How to safely build fires and cook on open flames / grills
  • Experience the natural wonders at night: Celebrating nature’s natural night noises at  State Parks
  • Experience the Huntsville State Park Nature Center: Visit up close with baby alligators!


Sunday

  • Coffee and chat with a Park Ranger: Q&A – Learn more about parks and conservation
  • Know Before You Go ... Breaking Camp and Leaving No Trace of your stay

 

Additonal Site Specific Activities

  • Creating Careful Kayakers: Introduction to Kayaking
  • Family Fishing Fun for Everyone: Introduction to Fishing
  • Family Swimming: Take a dip in the beautiful lake to keep cool

  • State Park Junior Ranger Certification Programs – Targeted Audience: 4-12 years of age
  • Environmentally-friendly program which adopts and teaches the 'Leave No Trace' philosophy and practices
  • Additional programs specifically for use and enjoyment of a state park

 

Meals

  • Instructors will teach you how to enjoy family camp cooking.

 

Fees

  • $85 per family (up to 6 individuals) - includes all entry and camping fees.
  • You will be asked to bring your family's food for the two-day event and a suggested list of items is provided below in the "TOFPRE-materials."

  • Please note that all reservations and full payment must be made at least four business days in advance of the workshops. All fees are non-refundable.
