    <description>Tag along on a Ranger led hike on one of our great trails!</description>
    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains" class="internal-link">Davis Mountains State Park</a> and the <a href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/indian-lodge" class="internal-link">Indian Lodge</a> were built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s and both parks are rich in history. Join a Ranger on a guided hike to learn more about the CCC, our parks, and the legacy that has been left behind. The 2.5 mile&nbsp;hike is&nbsp;of moderate difficulty&nbsp;and will take approximately 2 hours. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and encourage you to bring enough water (16 oz. per hour of hiking).</p>
<p><span>Meet at the park's playground by 9:30AM. The hike will end at the Indian Lodge and Black Bear Restaurant, so if you plan to eat a post-hike lunch be sure to bring your wallet! Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome! The local humane society will have dogs available for the hike for any interested visitors, as well.</span></p>

<p>Meet at the Interpretive Center by 9:00AM. The walk will mostly be on paved road; appropriate shoes are recommended. Binoculars and field guides will be available on a first come first serve basis. Bring your own if you have them! Please leave pets at home as they may scare away the birds.</p>

    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains" class="internal-link">Davis Mountains State Park</a> is teaming up with Grand Companions Humane Society to bring you this special adoption event! Loving dogs that are looking for their forever homes will be brought to the park. Visitors can get to know the dogs &amp; walk them around our campgrounds or on our great trails! We&rsquo;ll also have information on safe hiking and camping with your pets.</p>
<p>We will be set up across from the Interpretive Center from 2:00 P.M. until 4:30 P.M.. Please plan any dog-joined hikes accordingly and return with the dogs by the end of the event.</p>
<p>Even if you aren&rsquo;t looking to adopt, come on out and brighten a dog&rsquo;s day or bring your pooch for a fun day of romping &amp; socializing at your state park!</p>

Meet at the Interpretive Center by 9:00AM for all walks.</p>
<p>On Mondays and Thursdays&nbsp;the walks will take place in the Limpia Canyon Primitive Area - be prepared to provide your own transportation from the Interpretive Center. These walks will also have a portion dedicated to the region's plant life.</p>
<p>Wednesdays will include a Birding 101 class.</p>
<p>Walks are of varying length, but all are on easy, flat trails or paved road; wear appropriate shoes. Please leave pets at home as they may scare away the birds.</p>

People come from all over with the hopes of spotting this shy avian. Join a Ranger on a one mile hike to learn all about these animals and why the Davis Mountains are an excellent habitat for them. The hike, though short, has steep ascents and descents with loose rocks. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and encourage you to bring enough water (16 oz. per hour of hiking). Bring your hiking sticks, as well.</p>
<p>Meet at the park's playground by 1:30PM.&nbsp; The hike will end at a bird viewing area, so bring your binoculars and feel free to stick around to bird watch afterward! <p>Meet at the Skyline Drive Overlook by 7:00PM. The one mile walk is easy, on both trail and paved road; wear appropriate shoes. Evenings can be chilly, dress for the weather! We will be stopping at an overlook point for photo opportunities, then we will return to the meeting site. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome! Be sure to bring your camera to snap some great shots!</p>

Come take advantage of the waning moon and experience the awe-inspiring beauty of our stars! You'll learn some common constellations and how to find them, plus there will be a telescope to take a closer look at some amazing astronomical objects!</p>
<p>Meet at the Skyline Drive stone overlook by 8:45 p.m. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome. Dress for the weather, as you will be outdoors. This program is subject to cancellation due to weather conditions and cloud cover.</p>

    <description>Tag along on a Ranger led hike on one of our great trails! </description>
    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains" class="external-link">Davis Mountains State Park</a> offers some stunning views of the mountain vistas. Join us on a moderate 5 mile hike up to one of our terrific overlook points. Participate in the <a class="external-link" href="http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/parks/things-to-do/photography-in-state-parks">Outdoor Activity of the Month</a> and take some photos of our beautiful scenery while learning about the park's natural history! The hike is long and will take approximately 3 hours. The ascent is steep at points with loose rocks and switchbacks. We recommend you wear sturdy shoes and encourage you to bring enough water (16 oz. per hour of hiking).Bring your hiking sticks, as well.</p>
<p>Meet at the Interpretive Center by 9:30AM. Well behaved, leashed pets are welcome! The local humane society will have dogs available for the hike for any interested visitors, as well.</p>
