Celebrate New Year’s Day 2012 with a First Day Hike at Lake Arrowhead State Park. Suitable for families with kids. After that, the more adventurous will continue on a 5.5-mile hike on a slightly rolling grade that offers a good chance to see deer, birds and other wildlife. A good idea to bring a hiking stick, drinking water and sturdy hiking shoes. Meet along the park’s ¼-mile nature trail.

2nd Annual First Day Hike at Lake Arrowhead State Park

Enjoy First Day Hike at Lake Arrowhead State Park. The ¼ mile walk which will be led by one of our Master Naturalists will begin at the Dragonfly Trailhead. The second hike will start at the Onion Creek Trailhead and will be led by Lake Arrowhead’s Park Interpreter Fernando Barrera. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the great outdoors; come join us at the 2^nd Annual First Day Hike at Lake Arrowhead State Park. Bring water and a good pair of walking shoes! Buffalo Soldiers Encampment

Come spend a few days with us and learn about a day in the life of the Buffalo Soldier in the late 1800s. Also learn about pioneer women, medical practices, cooking techniques, and more. Basic Angler Education Course

Anglers will learn the basics of traditional fishing such as tying the hook. Fish identification and basic tackle will also be covered in this program. Participants will also demonstrate how to be a safe and responsible angler. The class will be held at Lake Arrowhead State Park, 229 Park Road 63, Wichita Falls, TX 76310. Vacancies for this program are limited, registration is done by calling 940-528-2215. No Equipment is required. The class is free; participants just pay entrance fee at pay station.

Basic Hunter Education

Fishing with a Ranger

Participants will learn the basics of fishing on a conventional rod and reel. A brief overview of ethical behavior when fishing will be covered. Once basic skills are covered, we will fish off the banks of Lake Arrowhead. We will meet in front of the Dining Hall. Disc Golf Basics
