Located in Austin&rsquo;s backyard, McKinney Falls will host a variety of events for all ages. This year's archeology theme will feature flint knapping, archery, rock climbing, atlatl throwing, fishing, leather-working crafts, musket ball and shot making demonstrations, the Buffalo Soldiers, Dutch oven cooking, wilderness survival hikes, birding walks, a star gazing party, raffle, contest prizes and more. The event is free after park admission and open to the public. Children under the age of 13 are admitted without charge. Birding walks start at 7 a.m. and the star party starts after dusk. <h3>How to Register</h3>

<li>Call 512-389-8903 and ask to speak to one of our <strong>"Texas Outdoor Family"</strong> customer service representatives Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. &ndash; 6:00 p.m. They can answer any questions you might have and also can provide the contact number for partner site workshops. </li>
<li>You will be e-mailed a confirmation packet with directions and additional items. </li>
<li>Please note that all reservations and full payment must be made at least four business days in advance of the workshops. All fees are non-refundable.</li>

This program will cover the basics of birding, wildlife habitat and the rare species at home in the park. Binoculars will be available to view wildlife from the scenic viewing porch of the Smith Visitor&rsquo;s Center. This program is free and open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own binoculars and a sense of adventure.
