Mustang Island State Park

Here the beach stretches for miles along the wide-open Gulf of Mexico. Walk in the sand, build a sand castle and splash in the waves. This is truly one of the best places to see coastal wildlife, from ghost crabs and green sea turtles to reddish egrets.

Things to Do

Activities include camping, picnicking, fishing, swimming, hiking and mountain biking on 5 miles of open beach, sunbathing, surfing, kayaking and excellent birding, especially during spring and fall migrations. 

Ranger Programs

The park offers a variety of educational opportunities. Interpretive ecological tours are conducted on request. Check the calendar for upcoming events or contact the park for special tours.

Area Attractions

Areas of interest nearby include Lake Corpus Christi State Park, Copano Bay Fishing Pier, Padre Island National Seashore and the city of Corpus Christi.
