Edible Plants Walking Trail Apr 24, 2014 from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM Goose Island State Park,
Join a park ranger for an easy one mile hike down Turk's Cap Trail. We will go over how to recognize the edible plants along the trail and prepare them. There will be no tasting or harvesting of plants on this walk.
Songbird Walk Apr 25, 2014 from 08:00 AM to 10:30 AM Goose Island State Park,
Join our April Bird Hosts Larry & Judy Geiger for a woodland bird walk. This walk is over fairly even terrain. We will look for some of our resident birds as well as the birds that migrate through Goose Island in the spring.
Davis Mountains State Park Open House Apr 25, 2014 from 08:00 AM to 09:00 PM Davis Mountains State Park,
This is a spectacular event including, trail races, a Dutch Oven Cook-Off, an Art Show, Bird ID contest, ranger led hikes and programs on tracking, bat house construction, camping tips, horned lizards and more. We will also be providing entertainment as the ‘Moondogs Trio’, a local band, will be playing at the Indian Lodge on Friday, the 25th.
7th Annual Horned Toad Cook Off from Apr 25, 2014 12:00 PM to Apr 26, 2014 03:30 PM Copper Breaks State Park,
Sanctioned by the Lone Star Bar-B-Que Society, the cook off offers competition in Brisket, Ribs, and Chicken. In addition to the three main categories a steak competition is offered on Friday night. On site registration and the steak competition start on Friday, April 25. Winners are announced on Saturday April 26 around 3pm. Participants may register before the 25th. Junior Ranger Explorer Hike Apr 25, 2014 from 02:30 PM to 04:00 PM Goose Island State Park,
Join a park ranger for a Junior Ranger Explorer Hike. Topics will vary. We may be nature sleuths and search for natural items on the trail, we may identify plants and animals, or be nature artists! Come on out with an explorer hike, and if you want a specific activity let us know!
