Research on Feral Hog Control

I. Executive Summary: Staff will present a summary of the TPWD feral pig research program and the development of toxic baits and delivery systems.

II. Discussion: Research is being conducted to facilitate registry of a feral pig toxicant with the USEPA. Kerr Wildlife Management Area (WMA) staff has evaluated delivery systems, sensitivity of native species, and acceptance/efficacy of prototype baits. Partnerships with toxic bait manufacturers and government agencies have been established. The Kerr WMA has developed a facility which has been identified as a critical resource for the registration process. Project results, status, and direction will be discussed.
