Who is Gordon-Darby, Inc.?

You should have received a Welcome Package that introduces our new license sales vendor, Gordon-Darby. TPWD and Gordon-Darby look forward to working with you and supporting you in your delivery of hunting and fishing licenses to our mutual customers. The new system will be going into production starting the night of October 19, 2013 and available for use the morning of October 20, 2013.

The Welcome Package that you received is a comprehensive explanation of the new system. The package contained a letter outlining the program changes, License Sales System Guide, mouse pad, numeric keypad and a training CD.

THIN CLIENT AGENTS - System Down for Maintenance
THIS WILL ONLY IMPACT YOU IF YOU USE DIAL-UP TO CONNECT TO THE LICENSE SALES SYSTEM.
In preparation for the October 20 system conversion, we are redirecting the dial-up lines the evening of October 1st (Tuesday) at 6PM CST. The system will be down for maintenance starting at 6:00 PM Central time. The outage will be 15-30 minutes long. We are keeping it as short as possible. You will not be able to connect to the license system via dial-up to sell licenses during this period. Check periodically to determine if the system is back up.

Agents using high speed internet to connect will not be impacted.

THIN CLIENT AGENTS - Download Patch 4
Patch 4 is a critical update that will ensure your Thin Client will continue functioning after TPW switches license system vendors on October 20th. It is critical that you have downloaded this patch on all of your Thin Clients. This is a one-time process per Thin Client.

If you can see two links ("Click here to Enter License Sales System", and "Click here to Enter New License System") on your home page for entering the License Sales System, then you have already installed Patch 4, YOU ARE DONE!

If you do not see two links to the License Sales System you must do one of the following:

  1. REBOOT YOUR MAXSPEED THIN CLIENT DEVICE by clicking reboot button (Reboot button has blue + on top row)
  2. Click on the Home Button (home image in upper left of screen)

Next, click dial-up (only if you use dial-up) THEN, click “Click here to Enter License Sales System”.

The patch will install then instruct you to “please restart your Thin Client“ which means that you will need to select the “Reboot” icon at the top of the screen. Once the Thin Client has completed the boot up process you will see the two links. You’re done!

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE PERFORMED THIS FUNCTION ON ALL OF YOUR THIN CLIENT DEVICES ASAP.

NOTE: LOGGING OUT WITHOUT GETTING TO THE HOME PAGE WILL NOT INSTALL THE PATCH. SIMPLY REBOOTING WILL NOT INSTALL THE PATCH. YOU MUST GET TO THE HOME PAGE, THEN CLICK “Click Here to Enter License Sales System”.


ALL AGENTS - Firewall and System Access Information

Texas Parks and Wildlife will move to the new license sales system on October 20th. This message impacts you IF:

- you connect via high speed internet (that means you do NOT use dial-up), and
- your network includes firewall restrictions.

The URLs for the new license system are:

Whoever administers your network will understand this information. Please get this to that administrator so they can configure your firewall. Do not remove access to the current URLs until after October 20, 2013. This will ensure uninterrupted system access.

Can you check your network access? Sure!

If a screen displays with a TPWD logo in the upper left corner and a banner that says "Texas Parks and Wildlife License Sales", you made it to the sales website!

Then, look at the last row on the screen. If you see a green check mark after "Help page access status", you can access the help website.

POST PEAK SUPPLIES

Supply ordering just got easier! You won't need to call in your supply needs as your pre-peak supplies wind down, instead, Gordon-Darby will be shipping you your post peak supply needs. These supply shipments will go out in October and will contain the license stock, ink ribbon and receipt paper you will need to meet demand. Identification of these shipments has also been enhanced. The post peak supply packages are sealed with "Texas License Connection" packing tape. This is a very visible yellow packing tape with large black lettering. The packages also have large green stickers that say "Texas License Connection License System Supplies" so they will be easy to identify and locate. These supply shipments will arrive before your pre-peak supply inventory has run out.
