Seminole Canyon State Park & Historic Site and their Friends Group, The Rock Art Foundation are inviting the community to support our military families by participating in a Presa Canyon Day Hike. Participants on this hike will receive free entry into the Park. The guided hike fee is $25.00 per person. The Rock Art Foundation will match dollar for dollar collected and all proceeds will be forwarded to Operation Gratitude's Battalion Buddy Package efforts.
This guided hike includes seven miles, eight hours in the lower Seminole and Presa canyons. The tour group will visit cliff overhangs that the Middle-Late Archaic people used as living shelters and view elaborate mural size prehistoric artwork, known as the Lower Pecos River Style Pictographs. Due to the rough terrain, participants should be able to hike, clamber, and climb over loose material, large boulders, rough uneven ground and dense vegetation to traverse this canyon.
Signing a liability release is required. Participants under the age of 18 must to be accompanied by adult or guardian. No pets and not recommended for young children (no strollers). Limited to 25 experienced hikers, minimum of 4.
Call the Park at 432-292-4464 for more information and to make reservations. Reservations begin 30 days and end 3 days before the tour depart date. Please only sign up family/household members; larger groups must be able to provide names and phone numbers of participants at time of reservation.
Tours are subject to cancellation due to weather conditions and/or limited number of participants. It is recommended to call the park prior to your trip to confirm tour.
