TPWD Wildlife biologists began the helicopter trapping of 200 pronghorn in the Dalhart area Wednesday morning (Feb. 23). This operation, unprecedented in its scope, is intended to bolster the declining pronghorn herd in the Trans-Pecos while at the same time reducing a robust Panhandle herd. Captured game animals are released near Marfa. This is TPWD’s most extensive pronghorn trapping-releasing in decades.
