Wildlife, Infrastructure Spared by Massive Fire on Chaparral WMA

AUSTIN, Texas — A massive wildfire that torched 95 percent of the 15,200-acre Chaparral Wildlife Management Area spared much of the wildlife on the state’s premier public hunting site, according to initial findings during aerial surveys by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists.

Texas Hunting Accidents Continue Decline In 2007

AUSTIN, Texas — Hunting accidents and fatalities in Texas continued their long-term decline in 2007, still down below three accidents per 10,000 hunters in recent years. That compares to about 12 accidents per 10,000 hunters in 1966, the year records began.

Texas-National Archery in the Schools Program Instructor Course Offered in College Station

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will offer a free Texas-National Archery in the Schools Program (TASP) Basic Archery Instructor Trainer (BAIT) Course May 29–31, which includes a Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) Course on the third day, May 31, at one of Texas A&M University’s G.
