Boaters Reminded ‘Nobody’s Waterproof,’ Safety Encouraged

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas had 47 boating fatalities in 2006, surpassing 40 for the first time since 2002, when the state led the nation with 61. Most of those tragedies were preventable, since on average 85 percent of boating fatality drowning victims who drowned were not wearing a life jacket when recovered.

MENTONE, Texas — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department biologists are reporting a fish kill on the Pecos River in Loving and Reeves Counties upstream of Mentone to an area above 16-Mile Dam.

Funeral Services Set for Slain Texas Game Warden

AUSTIN, Texas – Funeral services for Texas Game Warden Justin Hurst have been set for Wednesday, March 21 at 11 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in El Campo. Hurst, 34, was killed in the line of duty on Saturday, March 17.
