Unique Collaboration Reveals Dinosaurs Once Roamed San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Texas Parks & Wildlife and the Witte Museum have formed a new partnership to document and research the only known dinosaur footprints on public land in Bexar County. The 110-million-year-old tracks are located within Government Canyon State Natural Area and are believed to have been left by Acrocanthosaurus and Sauroposeidon dinosaurs.

Powderhorn Ranch Becomes Largest Conservation Investment in Texas History

HOUSTON — A multi-partner coalition including the Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPW) Foundation today announced the purchase of the 17,351-acre Powderhorn Ranch along the Texas coast in Calhoun County. The acquisition will conserve a spectacular piece of property that is one of the largest remaining tracts of unspoiled coastal prairie in the state. At $37.7 million it is the largest dollar amount ever raised for a conservation land purchase in the state and represents a new partnership model of achieving conservation goals in an era of rapidly rising land prices. In years to come, Powderhorn Ranch is expected to become a state park and wildlife management area.

Texas Game Wardens Host National Officer Water Survival “Train the Trainers” Course

AUSTIN —Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens are hosting a nationwide Train the Trainer Officer Water Survival (OWS) course for water safety enforcement officer trainers. Officers from Texas, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Alaska, New Mexico and Arizona will be attending the course taking place July 21-25 at the School for the Deaf pool facility.

Game Wardens Arrest 58 Intoxicated Boat Operators During the July Fourth Weekend

Austin – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game wardens made 58 boating under the influence arrests and contacted some 30,000 recreational boaters over the July Fourth weekend.
