Floods can temporarily displace wildlife like snakes, armadillos, skunks and raccoons into some people’s yards and houses as they seek cover or higher ground.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Partner with American Canoe Association for ‘Kayaking 101’ Instruction to Kick Off National Safe Boating Week

New Texas Paddling Trail Opens on Oso Bay

CORPUS CHRISTI – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is opening a new paddling trail on Oso Bay in Corpus Christi. The Ron R. Smith Memorial Paddling Trail, the 82nd official Texas paddling trail, is named in memory of TPWD biologist Ron Smith. He was a founding member of the Texas Paddling Trails team and an alumnus of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

18th Annual Texas-National Archery Championship to Draw Record Number of Student Competitors to Belton March 26-27

AUSTIN – For the 18th year, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is hosting the state’s National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) tournament in Belton. The competition will give more than 4,000 students from 150 Texas schools the opportunity to compete in Bullseye and 3D Archery competitions March 26-27 at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton. Participants have a chance to contend for scholarships, awards and qualify for the NASP® National Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.
