Sam Wahl Recreation Area has an excellent dock and fishing pier facility. Restroom facilities are a long walk uphill from the pier area. Shoreline access for bank anglers is limited; there is only one access point and the shoreline is very steep. There are primitive camping areas and places to park self-contained RVs, but no improved camping facilities. Campsites with hookups are available across the road from the entrance at Grubbs Bait and Grill.

Sam Wahl Recreation Area
- From intersection of US 84 and FM 2458, travel east 4 miles on 2458. Continue straight onto FM 3519 and follow it 3 miles to the lake entrance at Sam Wahl Recreation Area.
- Four-lane boat ramp with parking for 100
- Boat ramp fee required
- Open all year
